LaLaLaLAAAAAA!
Mob money apparently can buy wonderful things. Exhibit A: The Marie DeBartolo Performing Arts Center. As with everything on this campus, using its rather long nomenclature is frowned upon. Thus, it has been referred to as the PAC (or in some more dubious circles, the PAC du Lac).
The facility is amazing. The Women's Choir performed there last night in the new concert hall. The sound when singing is amazing. It might just be where I'm standing (dead center--yay tallness) but unlike the loft of the Basilica (which we still adore unceasingly) I can hear all of the parts working. And the acoustics! The building design is so superb that it adjusts from one lecturer to a choir to the orchestra--all with the flip of a switch! I listened to the Liturgical Choir sing and the acoustical range is stunning. Piano is really piano while fortissimo is really fortissimo. And that's not even getting to the organ hall. So finally, some hope for South Bend! I mean, if A&M can bring Les Mis to College Station, Texas, what's stopping them now?
