Ave Maria Stella--What the!?!?

Yesterday, I survived my first Basilica Schola rehearsal. The group has 12 singers of which 2 have no musical training. I am an amateur in the most pejorative sense of the word. But I was able to hang in there, for the most part anyway. In one particular piece the latin text is completely unfamilliar so between the notes, the words, and the rhythm I didn't know what end was up. Thus, the Alto I line faltered and, well, dissappeared. And as the director said, "You've got some time to work on it." But I survived. And will be singing at some pretty interesting stuff this semester. Unbenounced to me, the Schola is the "go to" ensemble when something comes up and the university wants sacred music. That should provide some interesting posts. No worries, parental units, I'm not considering a Masters in Sacred Music. Right now, anyway.
